‎9/11-2001:

I had just gotten home from school and was waiting for “Friends” to start. It didn’t. There was an “Extra” news broadcast. I remember being annoyed with this fact and didn’t watch it properly. I kept switching channels and then Irealised it was on every bloody channel on the box. That’s when I went and got my mum.

9/11 in many ways marks my political awakening. I was 18 and was for the most part concerned with local politics. The terrorist attack in NY made me realise how the world worked. Why I had to care what happened in USA and why people cared whose side one was on.

My innocence was stripped away in a sense.
