My first update from Montreàl. We’ve been here for three days now and so far these are my observations:

Big, bigger, biggest: - Everything in Montrèal is bigger than in Oslo. The houses are bigger (we’re currently on the 19th floor), traffic lights are bigger, the roll of paper towels is humongous and causes me to giggle every time I need to use it. I finaly get why it’s called paper  towels. LOL. I also get why it’s called a tub of butter. And everything comes in 2L bottles. One thing that is smaller though, are the revolving doors! I can hardly fit in some of them! Strange.

Architecture: - I have not had the time to see much else than the city centre yet, but it seems to have been built on the same principles as Oslo… None. Old and new buildings are standing side by side with no particularly regard to one another. You’ll see a tiny little cathedral next to a sky scraper. You’ll have buildings from the 19th century next to the brutalism of the 70’s. I feel quite at home. If we dissregard the sizes. ;)

Cats: - The cats are well and healthy. I can’t really say how they took the flight over here, but I can see they’re OK now. They’re a bit bored though. Our temporary flat is not very big and they are used to go outside so I feel bad for them. But it will change! They seem to like the view though.

Coffee: - I had my worst cup of coffee in my entire life yesterday. I hope I can find a good one today. I’ll keep you posted.

Bonjour / Hello: - Montreàleans are, spite popular belief, not snobbish about their French. They have no problem speaking to me in English. And if they do I’ve found out that asking what a word is in French usually makes them happy. “Bonjour, Hello” is how I start every conversation these days.
